Diary of an Edinburgher

Dougal!

After yesterday’s excitement, today was pretty low-key. A slow stroll round the Links first thing for Archie and I, keeping in the shade of the trees.

JR did her gym, and then went to the supermarket. Christine dropped Dougal off with us for his first official visit on his own. Archie and I were out in the back garden when they arrived, and there was no barking. In fact, there was quite a lot of doggy excitement. Christine went off to do things, and Dougal, Archie and I hung out in the back garden, where the temperature was just right - in the shade. The dogs played and mucked around for long periods, in between just flopping and snoozing.

When Christine returned, we had a G&T and enjoyed the weather. I tried Christine’s trick of making tonic water ‘ice’ cubes, so that they don’t water down the gins. Brilliant!

This successful visit bodes well for Archie making the occasional visit to Christine as in the old (Rufus) days. And, of course, Dougal can stay with us when Christine wants to do something without him or even have a holiday.

Very drastic drought down south. In fact, in the whole of Europe. Note that our grass is still pleasantly green, for which I am very grateful.
