clifford's tower

spent the first full day in york today. yet another day of great weather. took this one wandering around the top of clifford's tower.

i read on one of the information signs that this was a popular spot in the eighteenth century for romantic picnics, as the interior had become overgrown. i could only imagine how increbile that must have been.

after the long day, we ditched the car and took the late train back down to london, king's cross, then the underground to heathrow. thank goodness we chose to stay at the sofitel at terminal 5, or it would have been another connection to the hotel via the hoppa as well.
