Swimming with Pelicans

About 100 of them!

We went to Avila Beach today to meet up with Kailyn, Joe and the kids. We stopped off at the Farm first and enjoyed walking round the animals and watching children feed them lettuce and picked up the leftovers to fed them ourselves. Haha! Mom and I picked up a couple of gifts too. It was about 1:30 by the time we reached the beach.
Kailyn and Joe had a great set up. We had lunch then enjoyed the heat for a bit. Of course it couldn’t be too long before I got in the water. :D
Logan had been in the water the whole time (they arrived at 10) The rest of us joined him, even Pappy in his ordinary shorts. Haha.
While we were swimming lots of pelicans flew past and around. After a while they ended up diving down in between everyone that was swimming. There was a school of small fish swimming around and they were diving for them and coming up with beaks full.
They were so close!
At one point the one seal that kept popping up and down near the pier came up in between Logan and Jordyn and myself and Madilyn. It was only about 2 meters away!
After being in the water for an hour and a half or more I was getting cold so Kailyn and I headed out and wandered around the shops. I found a zippy hoodie that I liked too much to leave!!
We left the beach about 5pm. That was also when Logan finally came out of the water.
We stopped at San Luis Obispo for dinner at Denny’s before heading on up the road. On the way we saw long horned cows and a coyote standing in the golden fields watching a lone cow.
Unfortunately when we got home mom had a message from Eon saying that mom’s oven wasn’t working. She was so upset that their holiday would be ruined. She was so tired that it tipped her over the edge and she started feeling that she couldn’t go with Devin tomorrow.
We oackedreasured her about Eon’s holiday and we’ll see how things are after a good nights sleep.
