Across the water
Backblip
We had another tasty breakfast although I had asked for the salmon and ended up with a full Scottish , I think she thought I said I’d have the same. It was good though and we knew it would keep us going for most of the day.
We sat at the table with a young couple from Switzerland who were here touring the Highlands, ending up in Edinburgh for the tattoo.Interesting conversation about their life in Switzerland , comparing it to here. They’re really enjoying their visit :)
We left and headed West through some back roads. We stopped at a reservoir for a break and spotted an Osprey flying over with a fish in it’s claws.
We travelled further on where the landscape changes to more mountainous terrain. Beautiful beaches on the way too.A cloud burst on one of the highest points gave the car a good wash.
We stopped at Coast coffee, tea and treats.A wagon set up by the road side.I had Hot Chocolate and delicious homemade cakes.
We carried on to Tongue where we went down to the causeway , which opened in 1971, and took away photos looking across the water to Ben Loyal. The sun was behind us but as you can see dramatic rain clouds were passing by.
Down the road to Lairg.A beautiful journey next to a loch inbetween Heather clad hills.
We walked down to the birdhide just outside Lairg. Not much to see bird wise but did see a large green dragonfly and a fox moth caterpillar.
We stopped at David’s for a cuppa before getting home at about 5pm.
