After meeting friends we walked from Walkerburn through fields to Innerleithen and back on the other side of the Tweed along the footpath. Some sheep were drinking at the river while wagtails were busy catching insects above the water and a heron was patiently watching the water. There was evidence of times when the river has flooded and been about 3 metres higher but now it is low revealing gravel banks which are becoming colonised by pink Himalayan Balsam.
