We had an early start.... I was awake about 130am. She was awake about 530am. We both enjoyed watching the stunning views of the sunrise from our hotel window over Somerset. We were ready for the 7am start to breakfast service before we got packed up. We headed to Steart Marshes for a wander and a play on the edge of the estuary. We walked along the coast path, picking blackberries and following butterflies. We went back into Bridgwater to go to the Café Church service we'd seen advertised. It came complete with breakfast, nice activities and a lovely vicar who took time to introduce herself to us.
After church, we got back in the car and drove over to Montacute House, near Yeovil. It was gorgeous. Katie decided we were going to eat our lunch on the tropical garden/greenhouse... Though she retracted that decision after eating only her sandwich! We enjoyed a bit of a talk about the house and its history and Katie really loved the library. I loved the beautiful light flooding in every room we saw, and a fascinating film about how they preserved a beautiful tapestry. We also had a nice time playing with garden 4 in a row. I'm enjoying sharing National Trust visits with her.
After a couple of hours at the house, we made the final leg of the journey (for Katie anyway) to drop her off in Dorset at her National Children's Orchestras course. We were one of the first in her floor to arrive, so she was unpacked and sorted by the time I left, ready for a bit of time to chill out and have some quiet space. She messaged me good night later on.
A couple of extras today
