A play on words

Almost three years ago I signed up for an adult ed Zoom class in creative writing. At the end of term myself and five other members of the class decided to keep going under our own steam. We have continued to meet on Zoom for an hour a week during term time ever since. We bring along little pieces we have written to read to the group, critique each other's work in a supportive way and generally jolly each other along in our writing endeavours.

Today we met for the third time in person. It's always a bit odd since we are so used to the Zoom images but it's also nice to relax with a cup of coffee and put the world to rights. We met at the Hideaway Cafe in Guildford. It's a social enterprise cafe with a particular focus on young people. It was nice to feel that as well as meeting in a pleasant venue we were also supporting community work. The blip is of the spare toilet rolls that were housed on a shelf above the toilet. They made me smile.

When I got home I googled Who gives a crap and discovered it is a toilet paper company that donates half of their profits to support the building of toilets in the developing world. That made me smile some more.

A pleasant day, one way and another.
