Eryngium

Today's the day ...................... for more blue

Following on from yesterday's hydrangea, here's another luminous blue plant to be found in the garden just now.

And who could not be impressed by this extraordinary group of plants, commonly known as sea holly?  This one is Eryngium 'Catherine Blair', named after the founder of 'The Rural', the Scottish Women's Rural Institute.  It is a fairly new variety which became the SWI Centenary Plant in 2017.  The silvery flowers become an intense metallic blue as they mature.

This one is already quite a mature lady as you can see .....................
