August 6
The days have been starting with some fog and clouds, then when the fog burns off and the sun comes out around 11 am, the temperature jumps. The high this afternoon was 31 C and with the humidity it felt much warmer. Like many people, I headed for a beach.
I had not been to Kingsport Beach for many years, so I decided to stop there today. It was low tide when I was there, so lots of beach to walk on, I didn't see any migrating shore birds here, the tide was out too far.
This morning I did stop at The Guzzle and I did manage to see some of the shorebirds there. Not in the numbers that you see when the tide is high, but still lots to see. The area is a major stop on the annual migration of sandpipers.
One more day of this hot humid weather in the forecast, then the next 5 days is clouds and showers. Rain is badly needed. There was a forest fire today about 50 km from here, the last I heard, it was under control.
