Common People

I had a long discussion with Mrs C this morning about how we would need to think about making sacrifices, and living more simply, in view of the recent cost of living increases and the likelihood of massive fuel bills this winter. I was quick to point out that as my only source of extra income now is from playing with the band, I couldn’t possibly countenance selling any guitars. And it’s the wrong time of year to try and sell a motorbike, so I might as well hang on to that. Can’t give up on things like gym membership - we’ve got to keep healthy to survive what might be a long, cold winter.
Mrs C then suggested that we could perhaps economise on what we eat - more simple, ordinary meals perhaps? This seemed like an excellent idea - perhaps we could start with lunch.
And this is what she came up with. Smashed avocado and smoked salmon with french dressing on home made oat bread.
How pray was this economising, I asked. Apparently, only having the one slice of smoked salmon counts as a major sacrifice.
We may have to rethink our austerity programme…
