"Sons Are Staying Up! "

This was the chant which rang round Central Park Stadium at twenty to five this afternoon. Around about this time last year the fans were singing " The Sons are going up" heading up to the First Division.

Well in to this season it looked as if we were heading straight for rlegation but , no, the team worked hard under our new manager Iain Murray. Our first win of the season was here against Cowdenbeath, the Blue Brazils way back in November , so it was very fitting that we should clinch our position , not only above relegation but above the play offs as well.

A grand day today in the warm sunshine with a bird's eye view from the back of the stand ( had to be there to get above the strong net fencing which is there to keep crowds safe when they have the stock car racing on the track around the pitch. Incidentally I am planning to go back there soon te blip the racing ).

Game ended 3-2 for us , Blue Brazils scored a brilliant second goal minutes before the end but the Sons held on to their lead ( big relief having been there before , leading 3-1 and ending 3 -3 with goals in the dying seconds of the game and into extra time. Thought the ref was never going to blow his whistle , well into injury time before he blew, which was strange as there were no injuries , just 4 substitutes.

Anyway next week should be great, playing the league winners Partick Thistle so it should be a good game and no matter what the result we are still going up. Big party at the Rock!

Spoiled for choice tonight as I managed to get alot of good keepers from today's game. The new Sigma 70 - 300 is proving to be a really good buy, so crisp and clear.

It had to be this blip of Chris Turner who after this big stretch and being fouled, still managed to retain the ball and cross it acurately to a team mate. This guy is an amazing all round player, terrific in the middle and out on the wing, has scored some really attractive goals and is also very good in defence at corners. He jumps so high and invariably manages to connect with the high balls which come across from the corners. Saved us a few times.
