Anything Goes at the Barbican

A nice day out with my daughter with a nice lunch in an Italian Restaurant in the Barbican and then the amazingly good production of ‘Anything Goes’ in the Barbican Theatre. Lots of familiar songs from the original Cole Porter production? The cast, the orchestra and the stage sets were all superb with some really good dance routines. The cast included Kerry Ellis, Simon Callow, Denis Lawson and Bonnie Langford but there were also some very talented dancers/ singers and some great choreography including a really good tap sequence. At the end there was a standing ovation and lots of applause throughout so a very popular show.

I have not been to the Barbican for several years and am always impressed by the architecture, although a bit brutal it is very functional and ahead of its time for the 1960’s. I don’t think I would like to live there but it might be interesting to stay in an Air B & B for a night or two!

Travelling on the Waterloo and City line was so hot, it must have been horrendous in the really hot weather.
