My mother has been moaning about her phones.

'no one can hear me'
'they are not charging'
'i cannot hear anyone'

So since we had three and an internet phone line that is NEVER used I thought she could have ours

I set them up at her's and came home with the defective ones. I realised she had set the volume to the lowest level, AND stuck a sticker over the microphone on the main one.
I'll plug them in properly and see how they go over the next week or so! I feel they might be alright!
