'Forth Fat' fatbike gathering
There was only ever going to be one topic for blipping today. My brother organised a get-together of 40 or so fatbikers, that is people riding bikes with especially wide, soft tyres originally designed fr snow riding but perfect for soft sand too. The event ran under the banner of 'Forth Fat' and brought riders from all over the UK, as well as representatives from the main manufacturer of fatbikes, the bike company Surly.
Fatbikes have 4 inch wide tyres, ridden at the low pressure of about 8 pounds per square inch (road bike equivalent = around 100+ psi!). We caught up with the group on their return to North Berwick this afternoon. This is my brother, with his cool RAF roundel wheel disc, leading the regrouped party on to North Berwick's East Beach at the end of their ride. The weather was stunning. Although cold, it was bright and with only very light winds.
If you want to see my brother's movies about fatbiking on the East Lothian coast, look for coastrider71 on YouTube.
