No rain in sight

Our breakfast fruit included blackberries that T picked on our local walk yesterday. An autumn fruit in midsummer?

The humidity at 80+% was untypical of an English summer. By midday the temperature had climbed to 26 degrees and where were we going? To a fireplace showroom! Our original sitting room fire is not fit for use anymore. We are looking to replace it with one that will heat one living room if we can no longer justify the expense of heating the whole house! Testing hot fires on a hot day was counter intuitive but the summer offers are cool enough to draw us in!

We went on to a national DIY store to buy a second water butt. With no significant rain in the forecast I am not sure how long it will take to get any water in it at all.

I cycled this afternoon to make a delivery to the previous owners of our house whose mail occasionally still arrives here.

I also bought some final ingredients for a “summer slow roast chicken” that is now cooking gently as I write!
