Day 12 Esztergom- Budapest 46 miles

A lovely days cycling  in more scorching sunshine. 46 miles and we've made it to Budapest! 580 miles since Munich Airport. Phew!

Today was a lovely ride with only a few miles on roads. The route took us round the Danube Bend turning south through beautiful countryside. The best cycle route in Hungary- and it was. Two ferry crossings in the morning to stay on quieter roads. We went through Visegrád where we stopped to look around a castle- very impressive - I loved the kitchen, then on to pretty Szentendre thronged with tourists. It was meant to be arts and crafts but all we saw was tourist tat. But the village was beautiful and we stopped for ice creams. The final stretch was through madly busy Budapest to our 3rd story apartment,  home for 2 nights. A stunning apartment block with a central courtyard and balconies. We may have a celebratory beer tonight.
