Day 11 Gyor - Esztergom 61 miles

We had breakfast in the courtyard of the hotel, a former monastery, and watched the sparrows pinch as much food as they could at any opportunity. Basically you didn’t leave your plate unattended whilst you popped back to the buffet.

The route today was varied. We had tarmac, cycle path - very bumpy and brand new, we had track (aka trackitymactrackface) - really bumpy and busy road. Probably my least favourite route of the holiday. Luckily it was easy cycling and not too hot.  We picnic lunched again and later bought homemade lemonade from 2 young lads (supervised by their mum)

Now in Esztergom, staying in a round apartment, it is so cool. The owner was lovely, leant us his track pump so Mr PB could fix my slow puncture I got in the last 5 miles, and recognised Gary Numan on my ring tone.
We have explored the Basilica, the crypt was huge and amazing. The views from the dome spectacular and the main interior impressive.  Now for dinner and beer.
