Journey To The House of Dun

Alicia, having tested negative, is keen to see some more of Scotland.

After some discussion we decided that the House of Dun was an ideal destination to explore the gardens and to visit the house.

Tours are conducted by guides acting as personalities from the history of the house.

Our personality was Colin, played magnificently by William Young. Colin was the Grieve.

William had already conducted 7 tours and might be forgiven for being a bit wabbit. Except he was not.  He carefully inquired into the visitor interests as he told his tale.

Colin the Grieve ‘struck gold’ when he discovered that two of the younger visitors were the children of a ghillie and the banter that was generated was joyous.

As a volunteer guide myself I recognised a true master of his craft.

Anyone thinking of visiting House of Dun, book your tour and be enthralled.

The Blipfoto entry shows the main salon of the house. The plasterwork is magnificent as is the chandelier.
