The Green Place

Free the snail !

Today, we went to Namur (or just outside) to find a new sofa. After visiting the showroom in the hills outside, we went down into the centre of town and had a 'Croque Monsieur' (toasted sandwich) in the old town. On the way back to the car we came across the statutes of Djoseph and Francwes, two cartoon characters created by a Belgian artist Jean Legrand, along with two snails, the symbol of Namur. For some reason, the smallest is in a cage.

Apparently there is a campaign to have it freed !

There is also a delicious local 'craft' beer the Caracole (the local Walloon dialect word for snail)...can recommend.
