Orla & Conor

BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall

We were in the Royal Albert Hall this evening to see the first ever Gaming Prom: From 8-Bit to Infinity. We had fantastic seats and the whole experience was incredible. Orla totally loved it and Conor did well to not get too fidgety as it was 90 minutes without an interval. It was an experience of music that just can't be replicated at home, particularly some of the percussion vibrations from the Battlefield 2042 soundtrack.

Grandma and Grandad were in attendance with us. We met for dinner in Verdi - Italian Kitchen at the Royal Albert Hall beforehand.

In the morning, whilst Mum was at work, we met up with Grandma and Grandad in the queue for the British Museum. The queue was round the block, in fact way longer than yesterday when we had decided it was too long. But it was moving quite fast as the museum had just opened so it only took 15 minutes to get in. The best bit about this museum is the incredible cover courtyard in the centre, an awesome space, and particularly the café in that space!

After returning to the apartment to relax in the afternoon we got the tube to South Kensington. This time we had the handheld fans with us for some respite from the sweltering heat in the carriages. Although we have been to the Natural History Museum several times, the last time was in 2018 when Conor was 5 and he had very little memory of it. We tried to recreate a classic photo of Orla that is on canvas at the top of the stairs at home, but Conor knew what we were trying to do and didn't want to.  Since that photo, Dippy has been on a tour of the UK, including Kelvingrove in Glasgow, and now he is back in the Natural History Museum but in a smaller room.
