Nature's larder ... If you are a bee

At last the daffodils have come out to dance in the garden and it is looking like spring has finally arrived. I know many daffy photos have already been posted but this is my first and I have waited a while for it! Looking closely into the rich folds of this double flower it seems that the rich pollen on this one has already been disturbed by a lucky insect as the little grains are scattered everywhere - which made me smile.

The other news is that the siskins have finally graced my bird feeders and are now taking turns with the goldfinches to feed from the nyger seed. The blue tits and great tits meantime are obviously busy nest building as they were very quick to spot that I had put out some fresh hair from grooming Cara. One bird got more than he bargained for and it was quite funny seeing him wrestling with a big clump - but he managed to get it all into his beak and off he flew.

After the walk first thing, I spent a long time in the garden, weeding and generally tidying up and enjoying being outside. Cara and Bruce enjoyed watching me work - and in fact they have highlighted to me that tomorrow's job is to give the grass its first cut of the season.

Its been a quiet day but a good one.
