Tak Ma Doon Pt 2

My partner in crime had a wee sleeping in mishap this morning which depending on your point of view would either a piece of misfortune or a piece of fortune. For me it seemed quite fortunate because we decided to change the route and tackle the Tak for the second day in a row. When we climbed it yesterday, it sapped the last piece of energy that I had right out of my legs and in my mind it had become nemesiseque. Was good to sleigh the dragon so quickly as I smashed it today. Went into the the lowest gear just as we turned on to th road and stayed in it all the way up to the top. On the flatish bits I just spun my legs to get rid of some of the lactic acid. Seemed a good strategy as I stayed in my saddle almost all of the way up. Another good thing about my partner in crime's sleepy headness was I got to take this picture of the Peleton climbing.

Once we got to the top we cruised alongside the reservoir doing constant changes between the four of us and practicing a little bit of drafting by riding on the wheel of the person on the front of the group. Was a whole lot of fun. Best of all my descending skills are coming on fantastically and I hit 47 mph on the long descent into Lennoxtown. We stopped at the bottom with huge cheesy grins on our faces. A great reward for all that climbing.

I cannot believe the difference in my riding in such a short period of time. That's four weeks we've been doing the 40 milers now and I'm really noticing a difference in my cycle specific fitness and bike handling skills from cornering through to braking. Some of it is practice by hitting the road, some of it research but most of it is riding with other likeminded people, awesomeasaureses
