Saturday Spectacle

Woken up too early by the sound of a very loud helicopter circling which signalled the start of an exciting marathon morning. Watched for a bit on tv then headed to Centenary Square and Margaret Street to watch the men come in. Blink and you’d miss the leader, he was so fast. Felt exhausted watching them and headed home to refuel with the intention of returning to see the women come in. But I put the tv on and became so engrossed in the race and Jessica Stenson of Australia that I didn’t move an inch. I thought she looked like and ran a marathon with all the elegance of Sarah Jessica Parker.
When I eventually got back out I was thrilled to catch her medal ceremony in Victoria Square. Actually forgot where I came from and felt myself welling up as the Australian anthem played. There’s something about being at a finish line that does that.
Then it was time to head off to Edgbaston to watch England v Sri Lanka in the cricket. The girls did us proud and topped off a brilliant day. Ready for another sport fest tomorrow- loving it, loving it, loving it!
