Day trip to Glasgow
Train at 10:20 from Perth to Queen Street. Two young students lads came on at Stirling and sat behind us. What followed was a hilarious questionnaire on religion from Alistair to Lewis. They were taking it quite seriously but in a funny way (to us eavesdropping)! One question - is their an actual heaven and hell and Lewis thought for a moment and said yes, one is Alloa and the other is Glasgow. Alloa being the hell. We had to cover our mouths as the way he said it was hilarious. ‘Did Jesus actually rise from the dead’. Lewis considered this for a good while and said no! After each question he had to give a low medium or high rating. That got low! ‘If you are saved by Jesus, are you always saved’? Well, said Lewis , not if you then went on a killing spree! Or if you are Epstein! Low. ‘Is the bread at communion really part of Jesus’? No! Anyway, it went on and when Alastair totted up his score he wasn’t a definite part of any religious group, the list went on to 20 with Jehovah Witness the very last one which Lewis was very happy with (he wasn’t keen on Jehovah’s). I’m not very bright on religion says Lewis and Al said you just need to study it more. This entertainment went on till we reached Glasgow . They were a funny pair.
We had a fabulous day in sunny Glasgow. We walked the rough George Square to the Merchant City and sat out people watching at Tinderbox with a coffee and pastry. Wandered around the stalls set up and bought four coasters made by Roy who set up this business in the first lockdown. Putting iconic record covers (and other stuff) on to coasters. Of course I bought a Springsteen one, Metallica and AcDc for C and a rush one for S.
We sat outside at George Square at the Greek restaurant and had another superb meal. There was even entertainment with young lads climbing and posing up at Albert on the horse. They each got big cheers on reaching g the top for up and the Counting House punters next door.
We then had a trip to the Levi store and I got a new pair of jeans. I’ve had none since losing all my weight!
It was lovely seeing all Glasgow great architecture in the sun .
Train home at 4:40 - a great day
