Eating a rainbow
A beautiful warm and sunny day until around 4 when the rain and cloud seemed to come out of nowhere. We aren’t sure what’s up with Cannon, seems like a virus so he’s quite touch and go but pretty zapped of energy and feeling strange. Some neighbours came by to have a look at the veg plot and garden, nice to chat about what’s worked and what hasn’t this year. I’ve really tried to stop Cannon doing any strenuous work and rest so the maximum amount I let him do today was weeding the thistles from the corn bed. I harvested a nice selection of veg for dinner - broad beans, potatoes, onions, yellow courgettes, black kale, rainbow chard and the first crop of purple spouting broccoli. I sautéed all the veg and had it with roasted potatoes and some chicken is coated in a sort of spicy breadcrumb mix. I love eating like this, allowing the garden to tell us what’s for dinner and keeping it simple. I also made sourdough cinnamon buns for the weekend, currently in the fridge ready to bake.
