Duet For Two Beaks

This pair of Aussie Magpie-larks or Peewees (Grallina cyanoleuca) were patrolling the edge of the football ground in Maleny this morning. The male's the one top left with a black throat.

They usually mate for life and are duet-singers (apparently there are around 200 bird species world-wide that do this). Each partner produces about one note a second, but a half-second apart, so that we humans find it difficult to tell that there are actually two birds singing, not one. Have a go at hearing two birds, not one HERE.
