Winter/Spring Playground Day
So much to choose from! Started out the day with a nice leisurely breakfast. Then up to the slopes of Mt. Crested Butte for some nice spring skiing. The upper-upper mountain actually had amazing snow (if you didn't mind a few rocks). We made several VERY long laps to hit the beautiful pockets of snow up in the chutes and on the headwall. This photo is looking up the headwall - I got myself into a spot guaranteed to take a chunk out of my skiis when I tried to exit, so I figured I might as well grab a photo while I was here.
After we started wearing ourselves out, it was through the mashed-potato slush of the lower mountain over to the slope-side bar. C had never stopped despite skiing here all season. A spring ski day isn't complete without a frosty beverage in the sunshine!
After dropping off the ski gear at the house, it was back for pond jumping. Complete with two ponds, scores of brave crazies in costume, and plenty of inebriated spectators to egg on the competitors. Lots of costumed carnage to build up an appetite for dinner and drinks down in town.
