Diary of an Edinburgher

Mobbed!

A swarm sunny morning to sit out in the front garden and ask Hazel over for a coffee. She has just been down to London for a few days, so it was good to hear about her adventure.

We were still sitting out there about midday, when Elizabeth appeared at the gate - I had her down in Archie’s diary for 2pm, so that was a wee surprise for him (and us). He went crazy, of course. Elizabeth has just been to Madeira for a week, and came home late last night. (Extra - check out the look on his face!)

We decided to go into town, but it is absolutely mobbed. Every tour bus was chock-a-block. As we went down a wee close, we came upon a favourite bar/restaurant - the Devil’s Advocate, and on the off-chance of a table, popped in. They had a spare table outside on the decking area, though the bar area and restaurant are very groovy. We had a super sharing platter and a glass of rosé.

We had a wee wander round town, the High Street was mobbed too, with the usual suspects - fire throwers, bubble makers, caricaturists, bagpipers as well as the woman with most metal in her body. Once seen, she cannot be unseen.

17 minutes wait for the bus - JR walked home faster than that, but I sat and waited for it. I have my book on my phone, so I’m quite happy sitting waiting.

Watching the football now. Go England!
