Diary of an Edinburgher

Physio

I went to see my physiotherapist this morning. He remains upbeat and very positive. I remain sceptical. I proudly told him that I’d done the new exercises not every second day as he instructed, but every day. Well, I told a wee fib, because I haven’t done them since my sore back last week. He smiled (I think he did - he was wearing a mask - we both were) and said that actually, a rest day is very important. He didn’t add - ‘So please do as you’re told!’ He’s a fitness fanatic, and he doesn’t go to the gym every day, his muscles need to rest… He’s added a new exercise - with weights - and given me a stronger rubber band for my leg exercises.

I’ve informed JR that maybe she shouldn’t be going to the gym every single day. So she’s going to do different things. But still go every day.

I stopped by the canal on the way home. It was humming - runners, cyclists, canoeists, and a class of teenagers out sketching the boats.

I then spent the rest of the day reading my new book. I’m slightly embarrassed to say that it’s ‘Revenge’ - Tom Bower’s book about Meghan Markle. But I got it half price on Kindle, and it makes a good read. Wonder if the Queen will read it… Wonder if Harry has read it… Wonder if Meghan’s lawyers have read it…

Denise came for Archie this morning. It kind of rained on and off all morning, then mizzled all afternoon, making it easy to stay inside and not feel guilty.
