Seafaring Tales

We’ve now set up a whatsApp for the boat club so that people who need crew for a race can more easily see if anyone in the club is up for a bit of crewing. And on Friday night who got in touch but KA, now sailing out of Port Edgar, announcing his intention to enter the Saturday short sail. He’s a man who knows about sailing all right, and he has a nice little Albin Vega so I volunteer, along with my pal D.Cox. 
Blimey, a shocker arriving at the pontoon - he’s got a brand new monster boat (Sun Odyssey 410) which I knew nothing about (it’s his west coast one). Off we went. Electric everythings. Instruments that show everything too - and they all work. What larks. And once back, he made coffee. Proper coffee too. With a Mr Kipling cake. But his tales from the last two years battling the big C are hard indeed, and don’t make me in the least envious of his situation. I know he’d swap in an instant too. 
Later, a film. La grande bellezza - Sorrentino’s 2013 Oscar winner. What a great film. No need to wonder where it’s going, just a film where you trust the filmmaker to take you wherever he wishes.
