There seem to be very few butterflies this summer and I have not seen one on any of the buddleias known as the “butterfly bush”.   Today I saw several whites and a couple of small tortoiseshells but it was hard to get a focused photo of the green veined white on the valerian although it was easier to get one that was trapped inside the kitchen.  As a record of some seen on Wednesday I have made a collage of a small copper, a female common blue, two common blues together and two meadow browns.
