Sally Mair - Loving life

New table

This is my beautiful new side table bought today from somebody in our local Facebook group. It's rather rustic and vaguely arts and craft style and very heavy, solid, oak. I'm so pleased with it. Apologies for the dreadful setting, wires etc, but I suddenly realised I hadn't a blip so seized the moment.
Coincidentally, when I went to pick up the table I realised I'd bought something from that house before. On Maundy Thursday 1986 I saw an ad in the old Edinburgh Advertiser for a large rocking horse. I phoned and explained to the lady that I would like it but was committed to helping at the Maundy Thursday evening service so wouldn't be able to get there till 7.30. She agreed to keep it for me. When I finally got there, she had had over 100 calls about it but had waited for me. We kept the horse and it was well used by our own and visiting children. We sold it about 5 years ago for rather more than we paid for it. Strange coincidence, today's seller was no relation to the previous one.
Hard to believe it's already a week since our wonderful celebrations last Saturday, the week has flown by. I've cut up the last of the wedding cake to take to church tomorrow for after our barbecue. I do hope the weather improves as at the moment it is pouring with rain out there.
I did the last of the shopping today, picking up the burgers and sausages I'd ordered. Everything else is (I hope) in hand and if not, Tesco is just across the road.
