WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

Handy Man

The stove is gone and now Frank has to put new tiles on before the new one is fitted. The old one was going rusty, not helped by a leak a year ago from the roof of the boat down the outside of the flue pipe. Boats are a money pit!
I have spent the day up and down 2 flights of stairs sorting out the bedrooms. All my clothes are now in the attic room, the winter ones wrapped up in the eaves. Frank still has to do his.
I also henna’d my hair again, I’m getting better at it. It’s like having a big cow pat on your head for 2 hours! While that was happening I sorted out stuff for the charity shop and bin. Where does it all come from? I’m always decluttering.

STUFF!

The thing about stuff
Is that you think you have enough
then you see that thing, in a shop
or on line; oh my - what a find!
What joy - it will change your life!
Or maybe that of your wife.
So you click that ‘Pay’ button and
there’s that secret smile you put on,
the anticipation, you can’t wait!
Oh, when is the delivery date?
The thing arrives, you admire it for a day,
use it for a day then put it away
with all the other gadgets and tools
they told us we needed; Oh, what fools.
And that thing, we now no longer need,
it’s only purpose was our appetite to feed
for new and wondrous treasures
that could bring us endless pleasures.
Now you try to sell it on eBay but
there’s only one bid after seven days
and the buyer wins it for just 99p
and the postage to send it is £4.50!

Goodnight Blippers, have a great weekend.
