Six-Spot Burnet
Bedgebury Pinetum - so much to see. So many beautiful insects. So hard to choose my favourite. From coupling damselflies to bonking beetles, gentle meadow browns to biting horse flies. I snapped them all in my camera, locked in forever in my photographic zoo.
The extra shows one which sat companionably next to me on my bench. I got very close and the eyes stunned me, so much colour. I was getting closer until Jak, jealous, threw himself into my arms and it flew away. I am rather grateful to him since I discovered it was the notch-horned cleg fly, a species of horse fly, which likes to bite.
