The Moment

This is the moment I’ve been waiting for. It’s an insignificant moment by life’s standards but it’s special to me.

I have always wanted to get this shot by my pond. I’ve long been watching first one damselfly then, occasionally, a second over the water.

Today I was watching my lone visitor when suddenly something pounced. It was so sudden and legs seemed to be grappling in mid-air. I thought for a moment she had been caught by a spider amongst the weeds. Then they settled and gave me the chance to snap away, all be it at a rather awkward angle amongst the plants.
