Stranded Dolly Bird
Having done the seaside yesterday we decided today to stay local and had a walk and explore around nearby Eling. It was low tide.
We visited the tide mill which was working but not producing flour. Apparently flour stocks are very high at the moment and it is easier to store the wheat than the milled flour. The current mill is over 200 years old but there has been a mill on the site for 900 years.
In the afternoon we had an exciting game of boules on our friends' lawn. It was a close match, we lost 12-13. We did learn the correct rules (if we believe our friends). We tossed my 1754 farthing to decide who was going to start. I bet it had never been used to start a games of boules before.
New (to us) word of the day : sunbeams - cutlery items laid out on the table but not used, so returned to the drawer without needing to be washed.
