Lions House and the gunpowder magazine
A trip in to Berwick on the bus to get my hair cut. An hour to spare before the appointment, time enough to walk around the walls with the camera. A grey day and, thankfully, much cooler than yesterday, just right for a walk by the sea.
Passed the Lions House - beloved of LS Lowry - and the gunpowder magazine. The magazine was built in 1750 to provide safe storage of the gunpowder required by the military garrison at the barracks. It's surrounded by a high wall to keep out intruders, has very thick walls designed to withstand explosion, with a raised floor and slots in the walls to allow for air flow to keep the interior - and the gunpowder - dry.
Called in to the Green Shop before being shorn, and afterwards went to a couple of other shops on the way back to the bus stop.
