Hot colours for a hot day
The disadvantage of a south-facing 1930s house is that it’s hard to keep cool when temperatures go to 35 degrees. Even with windows and curtains closed, as advised, the sitting room was 28. However it was less hot there than outside. The tecord highest temperature was recorded in Lincolnshire at 40.3. It never got that hot even in Cyprus summers when we lived there. I hope the climate deniers are listening. The high temperatures are reaching further north than in the past, at a record 2 degrees higher in Scotland than 3 years ago.
It’s been a great excuse to be lazy and sit with feet up and get to grips with my Fair Isle pattern. Another small bit of ripping out had to be done but I’m ready to leave the brown and oatmeal behind and move on to Foxglove and Cyclamen.
Our London friends recommended Trom, a police procedural set in Fair Isle - I’m engrossed in the plot while admiring all the jumpers.
