Surprisingly we had a good nights sleep and were out for our walk at 6.30am again this morning when it was already starting to get hot.
We've spent much of the day indoors, but late afternoon sat in the shade by the river for a while.    That's when I noticed the Green Woodpecker clinging to the telegraph pole, he then flew down onto the lawn, after ants I expect, but it was in an area that I couldn't see from where I was sitting.    A few minutes later I noticed movement in the Ash tree on the opposite bank and was able to catch him before he took off across the paddocks.    
So lovely to see him and the first time for a year or so.
It reached 36 degrees this afternoon.
