Heatwave!

The predicted heatwave has arrived. This morning I walked up to the GP surgery for a routine blood test, and on the way back, I noticed how various neighbours have put out containers of water for any passing dogs (or cats, foxes, perhaps hedgehogs? Birds?) What a lovely, small but essential thing to do. This one sits by a garden corner that its owner has turned over to a small wildflower patch, another bonus.

All this positivity felt pretty good as an antidote to the latest 'circular firing squad' antics of the current candidates for Prime Minister.  We need a general election.......

The only other activity we have managed, today, is to pick the crop of Morello cherries in the back garden. I thought they might actually poach in the sunshine if we didn't get them off the tree, so we did it while the tree was still in the shade after breakfast (extra).
