Woodcroft Private Hotel - that was
Had an early 30 minute walk. . Warm, but nice and breezy out. Blipped the derelict building on the way. Been at home since. Entertained myself watching cars parking on the double yellows, Buses and coaches stuck in the gridlock. Not for the first time a car parked on a yellow where the road narrows, forcing traffic to pass in single file. An ambulance took forever to get through. Nothing you, happens every year – no idea why the authorities don’t toughen up on it. We will go out soon, around 8’ish - I was going to say when the crowds disappear – but still looks busy outside.
The amber/red weather warnings are today to Tuesday night. Sounds horrid in London and other parts of England with temperatures possibly up to 41C, a record. With luck we’ll escape the worst on the coast.
I blipped this hotel not long after the fire in 2020. It was inhabited by squatters at the time (the owners had left the building empty). Nothing has happened since. No doubt an insurance dispute, and/or they want to build flats there. Such a pity, as it’s an eyesore.
“ A HUGE blaze destroyed a derelict four-storey hotel and spread to the roof of another just two years after warnings about fire safety at the site.
More than 100 firefighters tackled the fierce flames at the former Orchid Gardens Hotel in Gervis Road, previously known as the Woodcroft Tower Hotel.” ( Bournemouth Echo, September 2020).
