Lavender Memory

This pot of lavender outside the patio door has been flowering for a long time and giving off glorious scent. Always reminds me of a few years ago going with our daughter and son in law at this time of year by train to Provence for a few days. In all the time we had spent over the years in Provence, in the heart of lavender country, I had never seen it flowering. What a strange day we have had weather-wise. A blanket of mist this morning and quite a bit of rain later. Gradually the sun broke through, but it was intermittent. It’s now a lovely sunny evening, but breezy. We haven’t suffered a heatwave yet, maybe it’s coming. Our daughters have been commenting for a while about how hot it is with them in The South.
