Cumbria Here I Come

Boustead Hill and the Solway Firth Spaceman

After a wet morning it eventually turned out to be a not too bad afternoon with lots of nice clouds again. As Bonnie only had a very short walk this morning, I took her and the ball out for a walk on the marsh near Boustead Hill. The views from those houses across the Solway into Scotland are amazing.

Whilst looking online for a little bit of info on the hamlet I came across this little story which I had no idea about. The Solway Firth Spaceman (also known as the Solway Spaceman and the Cumberland Spaceman) is a mysterious figure seen in a photograph taken by Jim Templeton in 1964 at Burgh Marsh, situated near Burgh by Sands and overlooking the Solway Firth in Cumbria. Templeton claims the photograph shows a background figure wearing a space suit and has insisted that he did not see anyone present when the photograph was taken. If anybody is interested here's a link to the photo.
