All clear for take off

After a little overnight rain - which at least watered the trays of foxglove seedlings on the garage roof! - the day gradually got better. I spent some time this morning getting ready for my first attempt to continue with the plant database at Dunollie, making sure I knew what was required and what had already been done. 

After lunch we both went along to Dunollie - Mrs M is part of a sewing group which makes soft toys for the Dunollie shop so it makes sense to go on the same afternoon. Spent a pleasant couple of hours plotting and photographing in the warm sunshine, then went along the road to Ganavan beach where a mural depicting a Short Sunderland flying boat taking off over McCaig's Tower - they operated from RAF Oban during WW2 - has recently been painted on the end of a building. Ganavan is where the Sunderlands were drawn up for maintenence. We then came home with a view to sitting out on the deck with a cuppa. As we arrived  the sun went behind the clouds and stayed there.

My extra today is of the Wellingtonia, Sequoiadendron giganteum, in the garden at Dunollie. Said to have been planted by 25th Clan Chief in 1865  - they were first introduced to the UK 1853.
