Blip Meet…
…by the old chimney.
It was lovely to see Blipper JeanneB and hubby Chris today. They drove from Harden (nr Bingley)to bring us a plant they’d promised us last Autumn - a Toad Lily. I can’t wait for it to flower!
We sat on our back deck for drinks and cakes, it was very hot and we couldn’t all keep out of the sun. We didn’t feel like walking far in the heat so we went to the Boat House pub instead and exchanged news and stories,
they are lovely company.
I did take a photo but I must have wobbled a bit as it came out all blurred, so you have old the mill chimney instead!

Old Mill
The old corn mill chimney
still stands tall and proud
remembering the old days
the works deafening loud
clogs striking on cobbles
wheels and cogs turning
workers shouting over the din
the coal furnace burning
barges chugging to a halt
bent backs unloading the corn
winching them up morn till night
waiting for the day’s end horn
now the chimney is redundant
and the mill is modern abodes
around the town is criss crossed
with traffic heavy roads
but still it stands there a landmark
where people arrange to meet
do they give a thought to the history
As they sit on the seats beneath?
Tomorrow Amelia has another figure skating competition in Sheffield.
Fingers X’d for her.
Goodnight :-) X
