The early bird

In a more open area of the reed beds the Great white egret caught its breakfast, lit by the early morning sun.

Temperatures are again due to be pretty hot today. The best time of day was surely first thing in the morning when the air was freshest although even then it was shirtsleeves warm.  The birds were active first thing, but as it started to heat up things quickly quietened down.
