Northern Corries of the Cairngorms
A beautiful sunny day today so went for a walk in the Cairngorms, up the Fiacaill ridge to Cairn Gorm itself from the car park in Corie Cas, along the top of the crags to Cairn Lochan, then over onto Ben Macdui and back down the path along the bottom of the crags to the car park. Looking down into Coire an Lochain there was more than one climbing party on Savage Slit (see blip for 24th August last year). Today's blip is looking north over Loch Morlich and Strathspey from above Coire an Sneachda. When I arrived at Ben Macdui there was a guy playing the bagpipes at the top, having carried them up 5 miles from Coire Cas. It was very atmospheric but arguably the top of a remote Scottish hill is the only place where the bagpipes should be played. The extra is a snow bunting that was hopping around at the top of Ben Macdui.
