On This Day In History
1941: Enigma key broken

Quote Of The Day
"Machines can never think as humans do, but just because something thinks differently from you, does it mean it's not thinking?"
(Alan Turing)

Bonus Quote Of The Day
"They would be able to converse with each other to sharpen their wits. At some stage therefore, we should have to expect the machines to take control."
(Alan Turing)

Thank you, Alan, for saving Britain and much of the free world from Nazi domination and for being in the vanguard of computer development.

By the way, you don't need to worry about machines taking over the world; Gigantor here, the Tetsujin-28 monument near Shin-Nagata Station, is a full-size 18 meters high statue dedicating the 15th anniversary of the Great Hanshin-Awaji earthquake. He commemorates the resiliency and strength of the effected communities and stands as a protector from future disasters. So you see, the machines love us.
