Anna Livia

This 18 foot (5.5m) long statue was erected in 1988, as part of Dublin's millennium celebration, to symbolise the River Liffey.  She was originally located in a busy location on O'Connell Street in a gushing fountain, and attracted much vandalism and scorn as "the Floozy in the Jacuzzi." Now relocated to a small park, I think she looks just fine.

Another highlight of today was a wander around Trinity College, which also has some interesting modern statues. I overheard a tour guide informing her visitors that “the Catholics and Protestants have been at each others' throats for over 800 years."  I make it 505 years at the very most
