Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

Proud mum

We knew the weather was set to be fair today so set off this morning for Easy Linton and Smeaton intending to have a leisurely lunch in the gardens. Sadly when we got there we found that the cafe was closed today. Plan b it was, so back in the car to Haddington and the Waterside Bistro. We had a seat on the terrace and enjoyed a very pleasant lunch by the Tyne in the sunshine.
We went for a wander along the river after lunch and spotted the swans. Dad was back on the islet preening while mum and cygnet were down at the weir. I felt she looked just like a proud but wary mum keeping an eye on her child in this blip.
It was sad to see so much himalayan balsam along the river banks, it's so invasive.
This afternoon I popped down to Kathryn's to see them all before they set off on holiday. Eilidh and Isobel both made me a birthday card while I was there, so two to treasure.
We had a light dinner after our substantial lunch and settled down to watch tv this evening. We needed something light after all the shenanigans at Westminster. What next?
